OK so spring has sprung here, oh wait no its winter, no wait… ugh it keeps changing around here and who else is sick of all the cloths everywhere for rain, snow, cold, hot, and everything in between?
I know for me the cloths of winter really get me by the end of winter. It’s just so much, all the gloves (that you can only find one of), the hats, scarfs, jackets, snowpants, boots, and you have to have multiples of each so that when the kids leave the other ones at school you can actually send them outside in the right outfits for the weather.
I don’t know what your area looks like, but we have been renovating our front entry for a few years and still not done, so all the mess is in our dining room by our side entry. Some days I want to yell because I have picked up all this stuff 3 times and it’s still messy. Some days it really doesn’t bother me as much. I keep trying to find ways to organize all of this so that I do not have to work as hard. I am still looking!
What has worked for your family? Are you in the same boat as me? Is anyone’s child perfect at remembering to hang up everything and put their shoes away every time? If you do not have to remind them everytime.. you have an amazing child and I want to know what kind of magic you use. Lol
I find that most children like to come in and just throw their stuff and go on with their plans to play or make a mess in the house… hehe. This is the life we have been wanting, praying and eventually receiving our precious babies.
So how can we change our mindsets so that it does not bother us as much?
One of my favorite quotes about this subject is – Don’t mind the mess, my children are making memories.
I love that because … yes they are. They will not remember the mess they made, but the time they spent playing, making blanket forts, tearing apart the couch to make a slide, cutting up a billion pieces of paper to make all those precious gifts, making playdoh go everywhere when making all the animals or whatever they can imagine, and oh so many other experiences that they love to do.
Let them make those memories, let them be messy, and don’t let your feeling of wanting a clean house overwhelm everyone.
We all have our days.. at least I know I do! There’s days that I am so much more willing to help them make the mess, and don’t care when we pick it up, and there’s some days that the mess really does bother me. Let’s all remember to give Grace.
We are not perfect.. remember no parents are!
Try to take a breath and remember that quote and let them be little for a little longer. The mess is ok, and no body expects you to have a spotless and organized house with littles. Let that expectation go!!!
You got this Mama!!!

One response to “Ugh, why can’t I be more Organized”
The memories are definitely more important than the mess as I remember the fun things we did when you were a kid and not the worries of a perfect house! You are a wonderful parent and are raising children with imagination and smiles that warm the heart of all who know them! Keep smiling 😃
