Being intentionally present and teaching our kids how to do the same, is something I think we need to prioritize. Technology is great, but we need to show our children how to live in the real world. They will be much better adults someday if you help them put limits on devices now.
Think back to when you were a kid for a second. Do you remember the look on someone’s face when you told them something funny? I’m sure you can remember your childhood friend’s reaction like it was yesterday. I remember going to visit relatives, sitting around talking with everyone, and you really got to pay attention to them. I remember my grandparents’ faces in detail and their beautiful smiles. Those are some of my favorite memories, and to think ,if I missed those because I was looking at my phone instead, I would not have the memories.
Think about what it says to the person you are trying to talk to, when social media is more worthy of their attention than you are.
- So this challenge is to be more present in the moment.
- Set your phone down, show the kids it’s ok to be bored. (That’s where creativity comes alive)
- Be the example of how they should communicate with others.
- Show them that they are more important than whatever is on your phone.

Thank you! I truly feel that our children need us to be the example. Have a great day!
