“Let them explore in the mud & build dens with boxes. Let them experiment with paint & imagine all day, for a child learns most when they are allowed to play.” -Twinklcares website.
Lately we have been out in the mud. It’s pretty much been daily at this point and some days they get clean for 30 seconds and then back to the mud.
As a Mama it brings me both joy and dread. So is parenting right!! HAHA
Recently they came up with the fun of throwing mud. They just don’t understand why mom doesn’t want them to throw the mud on the house. Oh to be a kid again.
We have been finding worms and toads, raising our chicks, planting our garden, and spreading wildflowers. We have been busy for sure, but a good kind of busy.
Then if that isn’t messy enough for you, I decided a good activity would be to paint rocks for the garden. I must be crazy! This both kept them busy for a while and let their creative minds just go crazy.
Then I put the paints on the garden bench (thinking they were out of reach) and the next day I got 2 pictures from my husband while I was at work. Here they are to you right. Yes that is my son covered in blue paint and my daughter I guess really wanted to make her hands into hulk hands.
When I came home I found a trail of green and blue handprints throughout the house and the toilet and sink were very green to say the least. The paint was all over the garage and honestly I know I have missed some paint to clean up, because of the sheer amount that was everywhere!!
I had a moment that night when I got home from work at 830pm (I work 12 hour shifts) of oh goodness I have to clean this up. Ugh.. and then I just started to laugh as I pictured the chaos that must have preceded this mess. I can picture them laughing and their Daddy saying don’t touch anything and then probably tickling them to make them stop being upset that he was washing it all off. If I would have come home and stayed angry at the fact that my husband let our kids be creative, experiment, imagine and be dirty, our parenting and marriage probably would have taken a blow, because this is not the first time that I have come home to silly things like this. Also I want to add here that my husband does an amazing job at keeping our home clean and tidy , kids just win sometimes… hehe.
Remember everything can be cleaned up. They will never have this childhood again. Embrace the mess and chaos and you and your partner will have way more fun!
Why not let the kids be dirty, and make your home messy. Do you have a home and garden magazine coming to take photos of your house later ? No.. huh.. Maybe a little mess is ok for a bit.
In Psalms 139 it states “You are a child of God, you are wonderfully made, dearly loved and precious in his sight.” Notice it does not say you are only dearly loved and precious in his sight if you are neat and clean. Let those kids have a beautiful messy adventure in their childhood. Let them throw mud, splash in puddles, paint everything, dig for worms, and whatever else they can get into to. Don’t worry, at some point they will be clean, but for now embrace their joy of messy!!!!
You got this Mamas!!!
