Mornings

Do you ever have mornings when you just feel inadequate? Yup me too. Maybe you didn’t sleep great ,because some little munchkins kept coming in and trying to steal the bed from you. Maybe you just had one of those nights waking up worrying about things you can’t control.

Whatever it was, it makes your morning drag as though you’ve never done this before. The kids are whiner than normal, no one wants to eat breakfast, they don’t want to wear any of the cloths you picked out, you can’t seem to make anyone happy, and at some point you say, that’s enough and walk away for a minute or two.

Showing them that when you feel overwhelmed, it is ok to walk away for a minute so that you can come back to a calmer state instead of staying in the moment and getting more upset. There are so many little moments that we are unconsciously teaching our littles how to handle big emotions. Remember that they are always watching, listening, and later questioning you about what happens on a daily basis.

There is no one that does not have a bad morning, and our littles are not immune to this either. Give them and yourself lots of grace. Teach them that even though you are having a bad morning, it doesn’t mean you need to have a bad day.

Show them how to take a breath, change their attitude with a gratitude practice, and have a better day. This could be as simple as asking them what they are looking forward to today, or name 3 things that they are happy about. Let’s set them up for a better day, and in turn I bet your day will be better too.

-This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice, and be glad in it. – Psalms 118:24

Have an amazing day!

At any age it’s such healthy advice to start your day looking forward to things that make your day happy. They say to have 3-4 projects to complete each day. Life is good. Make the best of it each day.
    Great writing again.

Thank you for the great comment. I agree, at any age you should have lots to look forward to and practice gratitude.
