The sweetness of a friend is counsel to the soul.

Proverbs 27:9

My big step this summer was to finally put myself out there and make a mom friend. I am a social person but when it came to making other mom friends, I was really hesitant. I was scared they would not like how I parent my children; we wouldn’t have anything in common, or I wouldn’t like how they parent. So many thoughts in my head that made me think I wouldn’t enjoy having playdates with another mom. I’m a homebody, and my husband and I love to do our own thing. But with the kids getting older and starting to make friends outside of our friend group, we knew we needed to put ourselves out there. I felt it was like going on a first date… LOL.  In the end I put on my big girl panties. I went out on a limb after my daughter made 2 great friends at preschool. I messaged their mom and I thank goodness I did. Shes a great lady! We are so much alike and parent the same way. Our families have since become close friends and it’s great to have an outlet to talk to someone that is in the same season of life as us.

This also can help show your children that making friends can be scary at first, but if you put yourself out there for a second, you might meet someone really worth it.

So, this is my challenge to you. Is there a child that your kids love to play with at school or daycare?

Try to put yourself out there. It might amaze you how much you enjoy having someone you can feel really understands what you are going through.

You got this!!!! I’m rooting for you!
